Early Years Foundation Stages
(EYFS)
All Schools and Early Years providers have to follow a structure of learning development and care from birth to five years old. This is called the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) and it enables your child to learn through a range of activities.
None of these areas of Learning and Development can be delivered in isolation from the others. They are equally important and depend on each other to support a rounded approach to child development. All of the areas must be delivered through planned, purposeful play, with a balance of adult-led and child-initiated activities.
The EYFS ensures:
Activities at Ardleigh Pre-School will be carefully planned, by observing the children in order to understand and consider their current interest, development and learning and the schedules and routines of the daily session will flow with the needs of the children.
The EYFS means that wherever your child is being cared for or educated between 0-5 years they will be following the same set of principles. All practitioners, parents and carers are encouraged to work together to help children develop to their full potential. Please let us know if your child attends more than one setting, for example a childminder or nursery as we can work together with other settings to discuss your child’s development and provide a cohesive care package for your child.
