A further thank you goes to all those who put themselves forward for election to the committee. The pre-school cannot operate without a committee and it was great to have so many of you keen to become involved. The new committee member list has been emailed around to our parents. If you would like to find out more about the work of the Committee, or if you are interested in joining we still have space so please contact Jenny.

World Book Day

We are pleased to be taking part in World Book Day which is taking place on Thursday 1st March 2012. For the whole week beginning Monday 27th February 2012 the children are invited to come to pre-school dressed as their favourite character from a story book or nursery rhyme. We are asking for a donation of just £1 per child, for the week regardless of how many sessions they attend. The money raised will be put towards new books for the children. If you’re in need of some inspiration and quick tips have a look online at www.bookaid.org for some book character costume ideas using recyclable materials at home such as old newspapers, tissue paper, egg boxes etc.

For a chance to win £100 of national book tokens for our pre-school, you may like to enter the competition online. Simply email a photograph of your handmade craft book character costume along with a brief explanation of how it was made and the materials you used. NB: Closing date is 2nd April 2012.

Ad hoc Sessions

Due to its continued success, we are happy to announce that we have decided to continue providing ad-hoc sessions. If you would like to put your child in pre-school for a one-off extra session, please speak to a member of staff. If you are looking to increase your sessions on a permanent basis after the half-term break, or from Easter, please speak to our Admissions Officer Emily Reeve to ensure your place.

We hope you all enjoyed the half-term break! Pre-School will open again as normal on Monday 20th February (NB: This is a non-pupil day at Ardleigh St. Mary’s Primary Sch only). The children will be enjoying pancakes for snack time and we hope to squeeze in a visit or two to the woods to have a look what is happening in nature as spring time approaches. We look forward to seeing you!

WE LOVE READING CAMPAIGN

From Saturday February 4th the Daily Mirror is launching it’s WE LOVE READING campaign, which will give our pre-school the chance to receive up to 100 free Ladybird books across a huge range of topics. The tokens will be printed in the Daily Mirror and Sunday Mirror and for every two that are collected the pre-school can claim a free book.
We would be really grateful if you could collect these tokens on our behalf, please ask your friends and family to help, and bring your tokens to pre-school where there will be a special collection box in the entrance hall.

Weather conditions

Pre-School will continue outdoor play in all weathers so please ensure children have named wellies in the tubs and bring coats, hats and gloves with them. If you have waterproof trousers/snowsuits we can help children to put these on if you leave them on their pegs in the foyer. It maybe useful to pack a spare change of clothing too, especially socks/tights/trousers and of course don’t forget indoor shoes to change into if you’re walking to pre-school in your wellies!!

Ardleigh Pre-School invites you to an Open Afternoon on Thursday 26th January 2012 between 1pm and 3pm.

An ideal opportunity to come and see the pre-school in action.

On Thursday 26th January the Pre-School will be holding an ‘Open Afternoon’ to invite prospective parents and children to come and visit and see what goes on during one of our sessions. Stay for as little or as long as you like. Our staff will be on hand to discuss all aspects of Pre-School life, and the children will have the opportunity to enjoy all that our Pre-School has to offer.

Children’s Christmas Party 2011

We were delighted to welcome back Peter from Educational Animal Experiences for the children’s christmas party this year at no extra cost our parents! (We were able to fund this visit from our fundraising efforts throughout the year). We had great fun looking, touching and holding all different kinds of animals, from cockroaches to snakes, rats to a tortoise! Look out for photographs in our scrap books in the New Year.
